Takeovers are a great way to let Gradient’s, and your own audience get to know you a little better, and the perfect opportunity to share your work, and speak about your creative ventures!

A huge part of Gradient’s ethos is inspiring others, and collective support… So this is also an opportunity to speak on your creative journey, your experiences with it, what you’ve learnt, and so on (if applicable)…

In your takeover…

⭐  Pick the right day

The day you do your takeover is fairly flexible! So choose a day you feel will be fun/interesting to document! Whether it’s a studio/office/uni day or a chill self care day… just have a general idea of what you’re going to be showing before-hand.

⭐  Make it personal! ****

Part of the point of a takeover is for the audience to get to know you, so show as much as you can of things like your space, friends, city, meals, outfits, pets, etc! — generally don’t be afraid to live out your full vlogger fantasy. Trust me, people are nosy, and will find all of that fun and interesting!

⭐  Speak about your brand/business/work!

This is the perfect opportunity for you to plug any past work, or things that you’re working on… this is about you, so don’t be afraid to gas up your creations! — also be sure to share, and show them in the stories you upload (via sharing from your personal account, showing physical copies, or any other way you please)

⭐  Q&A!

This is a big part of the takeover, at the start of the day, post a story with the Instagram question box and encourage people to ask you questions about yourself, or whatever it is that you do… Then, when you get a free moment, pick a few to answer!

⭐  Show rather than tell!

Don’t be afraid to talk into the camera, but put yourself in the viewers POV and make sure what you’re saying is fairly concise and something that people won’t be inclined to skip through… Rather than only speaking, try to break up conversations with images, or videos of what you’re speaking on, and don’t be afraid to use the text feature either!

⭐  Be consistent and post often!

Please by all means avoid leaving looong periods of unexplained time between stories, if you are committing to do a takeover, it’s important to honour that, and show what you’re doing even during the times that you’re busy during that day.
